The purpose of creating this distinct internship program is to allow people from the Indigenous community who don't meet the current bsse qualilfications for a Citizen Service Representative (CSR1) position to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and experience over 12 months to help them compete for a (CSR1) position with the City of Vancouver. Rope Access Training May 16-June 2016 The goal of the Rope Access program is to help Aboriginal individuals explore and acquire the essential employability skills required for work in the roping sector. Essential Skills for Aboriginal Futures is offering an 8-week Essential Skills enhancement program for those interested in a career in the Labouring sector. The program will take place at the ESAF site in New Westminster, where participants will delve into lessons and activities designed to enhance their Workplace Essential Skills. Learning is in an interactive classroom environment and will consist of a combination of: one to one teaching, self-directed and experiential learning in a group environment; participants will also have the opportunity to participate in trades related certificate training; such as: First Aid, Confined Space, WHMIS and Pesticide use. Service Delivery Program November 12-29, 2013

The first phase of the program will take place at the ESAF site in New Westminster and the second phase of the training will be held at the Vancouver Club in Vancouver. Learning is in an interactive classroom environment and will consist of a combination of: one to one teaching, self-directed and experiential learning in a group environment.
During the program, participants will complete an internship and be provided the opportunity to interview for employment with DMH Hospitality Inc.

Job Club August 19-30 Participants will explore the labour market; learn how to respond to job postings, develop their resume, cover letter and reference list, practice interview skills and learn how to make a positive first impression.
These programs are for participants with an interest in targeting a career path and employability. Participants may be eligible for financial support during the program.
